Includes renderings of Gustav Doré, Ludwig Thiersch, Seymore Lucas, Ludwig Brown, Ulpiano Checa, Henri-Paul Motte, Paul Delaroche, Hermann Kaulbach, Jean Léon Gérome, Gustave Boulanger, Zoe-Laure de Chatillon, Theophile Gide, H. T. Wells, Florent Willems, Thomas W. Shields, and others. Includes photogravure of The Dewey Triumphal Arch. Includes portraits of Theodore Roosevelt and Hans Christian Anderson among many others. Each issue with text contributions and additional illustrations.

Water damage in margins, lightly affecting gravures and other pages of vol. 8, similar with vols. 15, 18, 22, 33, 35, 36, 42, 47, 49, 51, 53, 68. Issue 66 with wrappers detached but present. Some fraying and chopping along edges of wrappers. Extra shipping costs accrue.
