McGraw-Hill, 1977. Reprint. Hardcover (Original Cloth). Good Condition/Good. Illustrator: Photographic. Acknowledgements, foreword by author three appendices and index. Burnt orange coloured end pages. Between pages 212 and 213 there are 16 pages of black and white photographs. Black coloured cloth covered boards with gilt coloured illustration to the lower right-hand corner of the front panel and gilt coloured titles to the back strip. Illustrated dustwrapper with white, yellow and red coloured titles to the front panel and orange and yellow coloured titles to the back strip. The memoirs of the author, who, during World War II to organised a Soviet intelligence organisation  dubbed "The Red Orchestra" by the Nazis  which helped shorten the war. But as a Jew by birth and a Communist by commitment he rejected Stalin and his purges; but, his hatred of Nazism led him to work with the Soviet intelligence community, for quoting the front fold over panel blurb " ... Between the hammer of Hitler and the and full of Stalin, the path was a narrow one for those of us who still believe in the revolution." Softening and rubbing of the back strip edges, corners and lower book edges; with bumping to the book corners. A little age toning of the text block edges and pages. Previous owners name to the top edge of the free front end page and they have also placed their sticker to the top edge of the title page. Remnants of a sticker to be seen to the top right hand corner of the free front end page. The dustwrapper has tears to the top back strip edge and to the top left hand corner of the front panel with associated creasing. A small V piece is missing from the lower edge of the back strip. Creasing of the dustwrapper edges and rubbing of the panels. Some holes to the front fold over crease with a little browning to the verso. Size: 8vo - over 7¾" - 9¾" tall. [14], 3 - 442 pages,.
