Embossed purple cloth boards with gilt lettering & decoration, yellow endpapers, all edges gilt, printed on thick, high-quality paper with tissue guards between pages, spine & boards faded, wear to spine ends & corners of boards, light foxing to a few pages, blindstamp to FFEP, Good+ condition. Popular poem written in 1751 by English poet, classical scholar & professor of History at Cambridge University. Illustrated with 32 engravings, one for each stanza of the poem. Published circa late 1800s.
