Synopsis
This is the most complete biography of the New Martyr Elizabeth of Russia, murdered by revolutionaries in 1918 and canonized by the Russian Orthodox Church in the late 20th century. Excellent scholarship, and--in some editions--many pictures. A fascinating story of a princess, granddaughter of Queen Victoria and bride of the brother of Czar Nicholas II, whose life turned from privilege to service to the poor to sanctity.
