(from internet search) Although no such title was ever published according to further research. These 2 volumes are the bound copies the author had made for her PhD thesis in 2003. I know not how many copies were produced but I can see that it represents a tremendous amount of work and research by her. Additionally it was also clearly recognized as such by other historians as the author won the 'Allan Nevins Prize', 2004: The Allan Nevins Prize is awarded annually for the best-written doctoral dissertation on a significant subject in American history. The prizewinning work is published by one of the distinguished houses that support the prize: Basic Books; University of California Press; Cambridge University Press; University of Chicago Press; Columbia University Press; Farrar, Straus and Giroux/Hill and Wang; Harvard University Press; Henry Holt; Alfred A.
