Constable,. Hardback. 239pp. First edition. 8 black and white plates. A study of concepts such as gravitas, civility, the English gentleman, respectability, etc., in manners through history. Blue cloth with guilt titles to front and spine has some small patches of colour loss to the lower edge of the upper board else is clean and sound. Text is clean. Dust jacket is is creased and with some longish closed tears and some small chips. Not price clipped. Very good copy in chipped and torn dust jacket . Hardback. First Edition. 1955.
