A Very Good+ first printing of the first edition with general agewear in a like dust-jacket; tells the story of General Custer's wife, Libbie, from her childhood to the time of his death.Libbie was born in 1839 in Kentucky to a family of modest means. She met Custer in 1876 while he was stationed in the area and they married in 1878. Although General Custer was highly popular with his troops, Libbie was often left behind while he traveled in order to minimize her risk of death. After his death in 1876, she was forced to live with the memory of her husband and the devastation he had caused. Frost's novel tells the story of Libbie's life and her love for her husband.; 4to; 336 pages .
