Full green morocco by Rivingtons of Waterloo Place, spine in six compartments separated by raised bands, gilt lettering in two compartments, gilt tools in remainder, gilt borders and red and gilt corner floral decorations on covers, gilt dentelles, all edges gilt. This work contains the first publication of two of Tennyson's Idylls; "Gareth and Lynette" and "The Last Tournament." Tennyson based "Gareth and Lynette" on the fourth book of Malory's 'Le Morte d'Arthur'. "The Last Tournament" tells the story of Tristram and Isolt, and of King Arthur's purge of the Red Knight.. Gift inscription on ffep (June 28, 1891), minor shelf-wear to spine and corners, else fine, otherwise unmarked, unread, tight, square, and clean. Hinges strong. VERY GOOD..
