Inscribed by the author on dedication page. but not signed. Hinges cracked. Binding is tight. Very nice copy. Illustrated with numeros photographs, maps and drawings and one coloured plate by Joseph Wolf.

Very well illustrated, including two colour plates and a map frontispiece, large thick octavo, pp lii, 567, all edges gilt, the hinge at the title page a little weak, and a slight suggestion of weakness generally, otherwise clean and sound internally, the front free endpaper creased at the lower corner and both front endpapers with a slight rust mark, dark green cloth very slightly worn, the spine and joints a little rubbed and bleached. [The Oates-Selborne copy, with the bookplate of Robert Washington Oates; the library was later gifted to the Gilbert White Museum in 1955.]. First Edition. Cloth. Good.
