About This Item

MP3 Audio CD. A book of short science fiction tales, edited by Ray Bradbury. Including these writers: Lyle Monroe, J. E. Kelleam, Hank Kuttner, J. H. Haggard, Ron Reynolds, Damon Knight, and Hannes V. Bok.

Ray Douglas Bradbury was a US writer and scriptwriter. He wrote in different types of genres, such as fantasy, science fiction, horror, and mystery fiction.

Largely known for his dystopian novel Fahrenheit 451 (1953), and his science-fiction and horror-story selections, The Martian Chronicles (1950), The Illustrated Man (1951), and I Sing the Body Electric (1969), Ray was among the well-received 20th and 21st century American authors. While many of his very popular work is in experimental fiction, he also worked in other genres, including the attainment of maturity novel Dandelion Wine (1957) and the novelized life story Green Shadows, White Whale (1992).

Receiver of various awards, such as a 2007 Pulitzer Citation, Ray also authored and conferred on films and television scripts, such as Moby Dick and It Came from Outer Space. Most of his writings were made into comic skits, television, and silver screens.

When he died on 2012, The New York Times referred Ray "the writer most responsible for bringing modern science fiction into the literary mainstream".

Ray ascribed to two circumstance his lifetime habit of writing daily. The first of these, happened when he was only 3 years old, when his mother's brought him to watch Lon Chaney's show in The Hunchback of Notre Dame. The second circumstance happened in 1932, when a carnival performer, one Mr. Electrico, touched the little boy on the nose with a wired sword, made his hair stand on end, and screamed, "Live forever!" Ray commented, "I felt that something strange and wonderful had happened to me because of my encounter with Mr. Electrico...[he] gave me a future...I began to write, full-time. I have written every single day of my life since that day 69 years ago."
