About This Item

IDB Productions, 2017-01-01. MP3 CD. New. In the first few chapters of The Farther Adventures of Robinson Crusoe, Daniel Defoe narrates how Robinson Crusoe moved in Bedford, married and have children, and at the time when his wife was gone, he spend his days on these further adventures. Bedford is also the place where the brother of "H. F." in A Journal of the Plague Year stopped working to stay away from the threatening plague, as an inference, these works were real. Defoe and his family got to know Crusoe in Bedford, where the facts in these books of adventures were collected. Defoe went to school in Stoke Newington, London, with Caruso, his friend.

The book contains chapters such as Revisits Island; Intervening History of Colony; Fight With Cannibals; Renewed Invasion of Savages; A Great Victory; The French Clergyman's Counsel, Part 1; The French Clergyman's Counsel, Part 2; Conversation Betwixt Will Atkins and His Wife; Sails From the Island For the Brazils; Dreadful Occurrences in Madagascar; He Is Left On Shore; Warned of Danger by a Countryman; The Carpenter's Whimsical Contrivance; Arrival in China; Attacked by Tartars; Description of an Idol, Which They Destroy; and Safe Arrival in England.

Daniel Defoe born as Daniel Foe, was a merchant, author, journalist, pamphleteer, and spy of English ancestry. He is well known for his Robinson Crusoe where only the bible has been published in many dialects. Defoe is notable for being one of the first promoters of the book, as he helped propagate the style in Britain with some other writers like Samuel Richardson, and is one of the originators of the English book. He was a creative and multitalented author, writing over five hundred books, pamphlets, and journals on many topics such as politics, crime, religion, marriage, psychology, and the supernatural. He was also an innovator of economic journalism.

Synopsis

Daniel Defoe's faith-filled The Further Adventures of Robinson Crusoe finds Crusoe bored with his prosperity and consumed by an irresistible longing to return to the island he left many years before. Along with his trusty servant and companion, Friday, he embarks on a harrowing high-seas adventure that takes them to China, over the Russian steppes, and into Siberia. Readers will find themselves captivated by this sequel, which is every bit as engaging as the original.
