About This Item
New York: Alfred A. Knopf, 1947. First edition. Illustrations by Kurt Wiese. Freddy shows a fraudulent magician a few tricks of his own to protect the inhabitants of nearby Centerboro. Large area of erasure on half-title page has caused thinning and a small hole to half-title and frontis illustration (tiny archival tape repair) which is too bad because the book is otherwise near fine; in good or better dust jacket with chips at spine ends eliminating "Freddy/the" at top of spine and one V-shaped chip slightly affecting the "Y" in "Freddy" on front cover but otherwise bright and attractive.
Synopsis
Freddy the Magician (1947) is the 14th book in the humorous children's series Freddy the Pig written by American author Walter R. Brooks and illustrated by Kurt Wiese. Freddy is ecstatic over the opportunity to learn magic tricks from a professional. However it is just part of a criminal plot to recover stolen money. Freddy and the Bean animals match their magic and wits onstage and offstage against a crooked magician.
