About This Item
[Pennsylvania. 1956.] Broadside. Approx. 14 x 11 inches. Printed on thick card stock. Tanned per paper quality, else fine.
1956 broadside advertising an air meet in Easton, Pennsylvania for model airplane enthusiasts. Events held were for: free flight, speed, towline, stunt, rubber, obstacle, combat, radio, and hand launch glider. A stork is seen, lower right, wearing a cap, a bundle in its beak labeled M.A.D., initials for the Model Airplane Doctors. (One can only imagine the aviation disaster quotient for model airplanes at air meets.) An unusual subject to find in broadside format for a niche American pastime.
