No bumping or wear. Binding is tight and square, hinges are sound. Clean endpapers, no names or bookplates. Translated from the Spanish by Charlotte Brewster Jordan. All pages and text block edges are clean. 489 pages. Illustrated jacket is clean with some edge wear, short closed edge tears; enclosed in new archival quality removable mylar cover. A story set in the trying times of World War I in Europe, from the viewpoint of a Frenchman who shirked his dutry in 1870,went off to the Argentine and never saw his home country again until, as a multi-millionaire, he returns to Europe with his wife, son and daughter just as war breaks out..
