New York: Harcourt, Brace and Company, 1929. 1st Edition . Hardcover. Good+/Fair. 8vo - over 7¾ - 9¾" tall. See photos for condition details. Hardcover with dust jacket. The book includes a two page typed letter (unsigned) from the actor and director Jasper Deeter to the editor of the Philadelphia Public Ledger, regarding this book. Dust jacket quite tattered with scuffing, soiling, chips and tears present. The underside of the jacket shows staining. Black cloth boards underneath shows some spotting and soiling along with edge and corner bumps/wear. Internal binding has some issues: the front and page shows a faint indentation of a signature (it is unknown if this is Jasper Deeter's or not) and the rear hinge shows some cracking. Text pages appear good except for some pulling, such at page 350 were a small gap is noted. Pages or tone due to age and there are some smudge marks and spotting present, though this is mainly limited to the end pages and pastedowns. The two-page letter which was included with the book is very brittle due to the type of paper used. One of the pages has some penciled arithmetic on the underside. The letter goes into detail on the points made in this book and must have been a first draft as there were numerous typos present. This letter has been placed in a protective archival sleeve protected from reacting with the paper of the book pages. This is a rather unique copy because of the letter to the editor which, presumably, attributes the owner of the book as being Jasper Deeter.
