About This Item
New York: Harcourt Brace & Co. , 1956. First Edition. Hard Cover. Very Good/Very Good. VG/VG - presumed First edition, copyright page has "b.6.57" code. Book has full-bound green cloth boards, with blue and green lettering to the spine. Faint water-ring to front board. Some bumping to front and rear top corners. Dust and foxing (no pun intended) to page ends. Binding is in great shape, tight and square. No markings to interior. DJ is not price-clipped, with original $3.95 price to upper corner of front flap. Water ring barely detectable as slight indent to front panel. Minor edgewear and corner bumping, a few small (less than .5 inch) closed tears. Colors are bright and vibrant, with no fading to the spine. From the New York Times review: ".. a sardonic study of an outpost of the Empire on which the sun is obviously setting." An uncommon book, particularly with DJ and not ex-lib. Images available on request.
