FIRST EDITION (1936), thick 4to, 230 x 180 mm, 9 x 7 inches, white boards colour illustrated by Stanley Orton Bradshaw on spine and upper cover, 248 pages. 1 black and white plate of a Sopwith Camel by Johns himself, 3 black and white plates by Howard Leigh, 6 colour plates (2 signed Stanley Orton Bradshaw, 1 possibly by Johns). A few black and white text illustrations by Leigh also. 11 items, 3 by Johns: Two Air V.C.s; Strange Freight (a short story also printed in The Raid); and The Ace of Spades (a Biggles story also printed in The Cockpit). Also 2 stories by G.E. Rochester, and 2 by Arch Whitehouse. Spine just very slightly worn at head and tail, lower corner of lower board just very slightly worn.
