Written by American journalist, novelist and screenwriter, Beh Hecht.'The Florentine Dagger' is a thrilling detective novel in which Mr Ballau turns up stabbed to death and his daughter's boyfriend, Julien De Medici sets about to solve his murder. The novel was adapted into an 1935 American film noir directed by Robert Florey, with Donald Woods and Margaret Lindsay as the main roles.Illustrated with five striking monochrome full-page illustrations by American artist, Wallace Smith. Collated, complete. With the bookplate of American illustrator, Elisha Brown Bird, who was known for his eye-catching poster designs. Bound in the publisher's original buckram cloth. Externally, very good, with light rubbing to the extremities, heavier to the head and tail of the spine, causing slight loss. Spine has darkened slightly. HInges are slightly strained, with cords visible. Bookplate to the front paste down and ink inscription to the front endpaper. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are clean with age toning. Very Good

Based in the literary city of Bath, our offices are housed in the Eastern Dispensary. Built in 1845, the building originally existed as a charitable institution providing medical care. The building now houses our collection of over twenty thousand books and has five full time members of staff.
