About This Item

MP3 Audio CD. A few years before, in a friendly historical town by the ocean, resided a young boy who was very, very interested of fairy stories. When he had read all the books of fairy tales which his parents and his uncles and his cousins and his sisters and his aunts had been good enough to share him, he went to the library in the town and read all the fairy stories he could see cited in the index. But there was a finality even to this paragon and in conclusion, one day arrived when the fairy story follower could see no new stories to read. Each Christmas he would peer at the new volumes in the book stores, only to see the same tales published, with new illustrations, supposed to gratify adults. What could be the problem? Had the sprites all vanished, or shut the doors of the land of fairies?

The Firelight Fairy Book contains the following: The Queen Of Lantern Land; The Adventures Of Florian; The Seller Of Dreams; The Treasure Castle; Prince Sneeze Marianna; The Lost Half-Hour; The Enchanted Elm; The Bird-Boy; The Master Mariner; The Marvelous Dog And The Wonderful Cat; The Shepherd Of Clouds; and The City Under The Sea.

Henry Beston was a novelist and naturalist, most famous for his The Outermost House in 1928.

His real name was Henry Beston Sheahan, born in Quincy, Massachusetts to Dr. Joseph Sheahan and Marie Louise Maurice Beston Sheahan, and brother George, a physician. Henry enrolled at Adams Academy in Quincy before having his B.A. and M.A. from Harvard College. While at Harvard, he stayed at the old Parson Capen House in Topsfield, Massachusetts.

Henry studied education at the University of Lyon. He later went back to Harvard as an English department assistant. He enlisted in the French army and became an ambulance driver.
