Octavo (21.75cm); black glazed cloth boards, titled in white on spine, with decorative elements embossed onto front cover; dustjacket; [14],15-506,[6]pp; illus. With Thompson's bold signature in black Sharpie following the front endpaper, and inscribed and extra-illustrated by Steadman on the half-title page using a red paint pen, dated 24.10.92. Spine ends gently nudged, modest wear to lower board edges, upper edge of textblock mildly abraded, with a few very faint splash marks to right edge of textblock; Very Good+. In the first state dustjacket, priced $6.95, with a white border around the photograph on the rear panel; modest shelfwear, some gentle sunning to spine, a few tiny nicks and tears, with a faint tide-mark at base of spine (noticeable only on verso); Very Good+. Some of Thompson's finest political reportage, which includes his coverage and analysis of the 1972 presidential campaign, with a heavy focus on the Democratic Party's primaries. The book was largely derived from a series of articles written for Rolling Stone, heavily illustrated throughout with photographs and a series of drawings in Ralph Steadman's signatures style.
