New York and London: Harper & Brothers Publishers, 1933. First edition. Hardcover. 349pp. Octavo [21 cm] Light brown cloth over boards with gilt and black lettering and linear designs on the spine and front cover. Yellow and white patterned endpapers. Two pages advertising The Harper Prize Novel Contest at the rear. The spine ends and edges of the covers are mildly faded and bumped. There is a previous owner's bookplate on the front free endpaper, and the pages are browned. The price-clipped dust jacket is in good plus condition, with numerous small losses from the edges. A first edition of the author's first novel, and the 1933-1934 Harper Prize Novel.
