About This Item

London: Jonathan Cape, 1972. Cloth. Near Fine/Very Good Indeed. 9" by 6". Not Stated. The first English edition of this collection of poetry from Chilean writer Pablo Neruda, an advance review copy presented by the publisher. A delightful collection of poetry from Chilean writer Pablo Neruda, who won the Nobel Prize for Literature in 1971. Neruda wrote in many different styles, which mostly included political writings, surrealist poems, and historical epics. The first English edition of this work, translated by Alastair Reid. Enclosed in the original dust wrapper. An advance review copy presented by Jonathan Cape, with a loosely inserted publisher's card. In the publisher's original cloth binding. Externally, lovely, with just a touch of shelf wear. Original unclipped dust wrapper is very smart, with some light edgewear and sunning to the spine. Slight darkening to the interior of the backstrip. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are bright and clean. Near Fine
