About This Item
Havana: Book Institute, 1967. First edition thus. Hardcover. Very Good/good. light wear to the book a bit more wear to tips, corners and edges of jacket. First printing, no others noted. First published in Spanish as Passajes de la Guerra Revolucionaria by Ediciones Union, Havana in 1963. It is compilation of a series of articles by Guevara that had originally appeared in Verde Olivo, a weekly publication of Cuba's Revolutionary Armed Forces. This is the first English language edition published in Cuba one year before the 1968 International Publishers edition titled Reminiscences of the Revolutionary War. The "Reminiscences" version formed the basis for the Steven Soderbergh movie "Che" starring Benicio del Toro. The Cleveland Press in reviewing the 1968 book said "When Che Guevara cast his lot with Marxism and revolution the world of letters suffered an incalculable loss. Guevara is a brilliant, thoughtful writer. He is lucid, candid and revealing." Colm Toibin in a review for The Observer remarks that "most of the writing is clear and plain", but the text "has powerful and poetic moments" which both concentrate "on the unglamorous nature of guerrilla warfare" and display Guevara's "conviction" and genuine belief in "mass literacy, agrarian reform and health care." Most items ship with free delivery confirmation, electronic tracking and jacket protectors (generally over $10.00) if applicable. Clean recycled packing material will be used when possible.
