London: G. Strahan et al, 1736. 3rd Edition. Leather Bound. Good. Various paginations. 35 cm. Half leather raised bands. Spine tail chipped, corners bumped. Front hinge loose but intact. Bookplate for "Joseph Y. Jeanes, Philadelphia" on front pastedown. Label residue below. Moderate foxing, staining and thumbing. Pencil notes p. 35-39 of part one. Small hole p. 113 in appendix. Nicholson created this historiography discussing source materials for English, Scottish and Irish history. The English, Scottish and Irish historical libraries had all appeared separately but this edition was the first to combine them. Each section has its own title page and pagination.
Title continues: "Giving a short View and Character of Most of our Historians, either in Print or Manuscript. With An Account of our Records, Law-Books, Coins, and other Matters, serviceable to the undertakers of a General History of England."
