About This Item

Paris, France: Editions Joelle Losfeld, 2000. A3 - A French language edition trade paperback book in very good condition. A tight, clean, sound copy in color illustrated white wraps with minor overall shelf wear with some rubbing and light soiling of the covers and some very slight edge wear of the covers. The author dedicated 'Effroyables Jardins' (Strange Gardens), this bright, moving and metaphorical anti-war short story to the memory of his grandfather, a veteran of Verdun, and to his father, a former fighter in the French resistance. They opened wide their memory of the horror of war and is yet learned German, because they felt that Manichaeism in history is nonsense. A sequel to 'Effroyables Jardins' (Strange Gardens) was published in 2002 by Editions Joelle Losfeld under the title 'Aimer à peine' (Just Love). Michel Quint was born in 1949. He has published twenty books (crime novels and short stories) including 'Sanctus', 'Cake-Walk' and 'Lundi perdu' (Lost Monday) published by Rivages Noir. He received the Grand Prize for crime fiction in 1989. 'Effroyables Jardins' (Strange Gardens) was adapted for film by Jean Becker in 2003. Satisfaction garantie (satisfaction guaranteed).. Trade Paperback. Very Good/No Jacket as Issued. 12mo - over 6¾" - 7¾" tall.
