About This Item
Edmonton: The University of Alberta Press, 2004. Hardcover. Near Fine/Near Fine. 8vo. Full blue paper boards, silver lettering to spine. xxxviii, 463 p.p. B&W photos and maps in-text throughout. Spine tilted, bruise to upper corner and tail edge of rear board. Dust jacket near fine overall. The authors have tapped Edmonton's collective memoir, through the written record, the spoken stories and the vast silences. Through the traditional aboriginal stories about the earliest travellers along the river, diaries, archival records and letters of nineteenth century inhabitants and the recollections of living residents who talk about the emerging city, Edmonton's history is told using the words of the people who have called this city home.
