Foreword by Hulbert Burroughs, preface by author, acknowledgements, Introduction: "Tarzan, John Carter, Mr Burroughs, and the Long Mad Summer of 1930," by Ray Bradbury, notes, six appendices, about the author and index. Gold coloured end pages. The text is illustrated with numerous black-and-white photographs and black and white illustrations, some of the illustrations have been created by Edgar Rice Burroughs. 1/4 black coloured cloth covered backstrip with seven coloured stripes and titles. 3/4 gold coloured cloth covered boards with facsimile signature of author along the front edge of the front panel. Colour illustrated dustwrapper with brown and black coloured titles to the front panel and black coloured titles to the backstrip. Black and white photograph of Edgar Rice Burroughs the rear panel. The biography of Edgar Rice Burroughs, the creator of Tarzan and John Carter of Mars (amongst other characters). It is not only the story of the author  his ups and downs; a man with a many sided personality and of his writing  not only of Tarzan and John Carter of Mars but his western writing, his mysteries, newspaper columns etc. A little softening of the backstrip edges and bumping of the book corners. Age toning of the textblock edges and pages. Chipping of the dustwrapper corners, top edge of the front panel and of the backstrip edges. Creasing to the backstrip edge with noticeable rubbing of the panels and of the fold over creases. Some light browning of the verso of the dustwrapper. Size: 8vo - over 7¾" - 9¾" tall.
