Ann Arbor, (MI): U. of Michigan Press, 1941. First edition. 4to. 45 pp. 37 plates (title page facsimiles). The books, 372 titles, were published 1493-1800; 121 title pages are illustrated. Inscribed on the half-title by Karpinski in 1942 to Bishop Collins Denny (1854-1943), a Methodist bishop and professor of moral and mental philosophy at Vanderbilt, 1891-1910, dismissed when he "tried to impose theological control over the university." Very good. Original burgundy cloth (a bit flecked), gilt spine title, printed dust jacket (some soiling). (10537).
