New York: Tudor Publishing Co., 1936. This Stated First Edition from July 1936 is the First U.S. Edition of a book originally published in the U.K. by Longmans, Green and Co., London in 1931. It traces the entire history of Westward expansion in what was to become the United States from before the Louisiana Purchase from 1540 through 1803 and throughout the American Period of expansion from 1803 through 1850. It is an invaluable reference tool. The book is bound in green cloth covers with die-stamped gilt titles on the front panel and spine. It has top-edge red stain. There is light cover spotting. The binding is tight and secure. The pages are clean and bright throughout. The book measures 6 1/2 by 9 3/8 inches and includes 411 pages, with illustrations and Index.. First American Edition. Hard Cover. Very Good/No Dust Jacket. 8vo - over 7¾" - 9¾" tall.
