Original cream cloth, letters in gilt. Binding looks fresh but for stain-streak along lower edge of covers caused by earlier dustjacket protector. Interior clean, no owner's name, near fine. Dustjacket with cover illustrations moderately worn at edges showing occasional stain at edges from the same former dj protector. 1 color plate and 412 images on 200 glossy plates. Dj blurb: "survey of the use of watercolour in England from the sixteenth century to the time of Cotman, Cox, and De Wint…The main emphasis is on landscape, topography, and figure drawing, but the book-illustrators, marine watercolourists, natural history draughtsmen, portraitists and caricaturists are also included." ; Over 400 illustrations; 12 x 9 3/4 inches; 266 pages .
