New York: [The Company], circa 1890s. . 16mo, highly attractive aesthetic period printed yellow wrappers; the back illustration showing a Japanese woman siting high up in a bamboo cane with a bird on her knee; in the background Mount Fuji; the front illustration shows a crane wading in a pond with bamboo canes to its right. One holding in OCLC (University of Rochester, Medical School). The first [5 1/4] pp. discuss Japanese Oil, an embrocation for the relief of rheumatic pains, also, a few drops are taken internally. According to this pamphlet, the recipe came from the Mikado's doctor who had to ask the Emperor for permission for it to be used on a visiting American; permission was then given for the recipe to be given to the woman.The remainder of the booklet is devoted to the Liver and Kidney curel.
