He was a night fighter w/59 victories in some 272 missions of which 110 were night time. He won the Iron Cross 1st & 2nd Class, the German Cross in Gold & the Knight's Cross of the Iron Cross w/Oak Leaves. On the half-title p. is tipped-in an ace of spades playing card w/the autograph of Ace Jerry Johnson, 56th Air Grp. There were 2 Jerry Johnsons both aces. This is Gerald W. & he had 16.5 kills & he won the DSC, the DFC w/4 bronze oak leaf clusters, the Air Medal w/4 bronze leaf clusters, the Legion of Merit (3). He was also a POW. After the war he rose to the rank of Lt. Gen. commanding the 8th AF during the Vietnam War. Johnson is mentioned in the book. Blue cloth bound hard cover book in v.g. cond.
