This work features the fictional character Dolly Foster and her many stories, and provides a picture of the end of the Victorian era. This is also the first work to be fully illustrated by the noted Arthur Rackham, who is regarded to be one of the most important book illustrators of this era. In the publisher's original cloth. Externally generally smart with marks to the boards, fading to the spine, rubbing to the extremities and joints resulting in wear and very minor closed tears to the head and tail of the spine and bumping to the extremities. Small label to the front pastedown with very minimal offsetting to the free endpapers. Rear hinge starting and front hinge starting after the frontispiece.
