First published serially in 1965 in Castle Rock (Stephen King's official newsletter), the story follows a widowed schoolteacher on his journey for revenge. Haunted by his wife's murder at the hands of Dolan, a Vegas mob boss, Robinson meticulously plots and finally succeeds in torturous vengeance. Inspiration for the 2009 film and a thrilling example of King's genre mastery. Fine.
