About This Item
Chicago: Ziff-Davis, 1948. First edition. Hardcover. Fine/very good. First edition (no statement as is correct). Light green cloth. 284 pp. Illustrated. Fine, bit of offsetting to the endpapers. In better than usually found original dust jacket, very good or somewhat better, minor wear to the extremities. Autobiographical account of one of baseball's most colorful figures, Leo "The Lip" Durocher, during his days with the Brooklyn Dodgers. Leo played for the Bums from 1939 to 1948, acting as player-manager during tha time. An advocate of bringing Jackie Robinson to the majors, Durocher would have been his manager had he not been suspended in spring training for the entire 1947 season for "unsavory relationships" with questionable characters.
