A collection of essays on the work of D. J. Opperman, starting with 'Heilige beeste' (1945), and concluding with 'Edms. Bpk.' (1970). 'Hierdie bundel is saamgestel in opdrag van die uitgewer en wil 'n huldeblyk wees aan die digter D. J. Opperman by geleentheid van sy sestigste verjaardag. Nie alles wat oor Opperman geskryf is, is hier opgeneem nie. Daar moes noodwendig 'n keuse gedoen word. Die bundel is dus nie "volledig" nie, maar met sy verskeidenheid artikels, besprekings en beskouings kon hy in hoë mate verteenwoordigend word, danksy die welwillende medewerking van alle betrokke persone en instansies.' .
