About This Item

xvii+265 pages with maps, diagrams, appendices, bibliography and index. Royal octavo (9 1/4" x 6") bound in original publisher's grey cloth with silver lettering to spine in original jacket. First edition. Paul Chapman's account is logical, factual and as accurate as remaining records permit. The reader should ask this question: does the author wish to perpetuate Samuel Eliot Morison's Columbus (a legend that has become enshrined) or does he dare to understand as bet the real man, the Columbus of history? Chapman also resolves what the National Geographic project failed at: locating the site of Columbus' first landfall in the Americas, and makes it clear with abundant supporting evidence. Condition: Fine in like jacket.
