About This Item

Oxford: Clarendon Press, 1995. First edition. Hardcover. Fine/fine. Folio. xv,(1),188pp. Indices. Text in English and Hebrew, with some Greek. Gray/green dust jacket printed in blue. Green cloth, gilt. Illustrated with 37 black & white photographic plates, each with multiple images. A fine, as new copy.

This volume continues the series on biblical Dead Sea Scrolls that were discovered in Cave 4 at Qumran. It contains 24 Hebrew manuscripts of the books of Deuteronomy, Joshua, Judges, and Kings. Joshua, the oldest extant manuscript of that book displays a different sequence of episodes concerning the first altar built n the newly entered land. Superior textual variants from these manuscripts have been adopted in recent revised translations of the Bible.
