Pp. xxxviii+612, frontispiece portrait, 4 plates, text illustrations and facsimiles, pictorial endpapers; Volume Two: 1709-1729. Pp. xiv+614-1254, frontispiece portrait, text illustrations and facsimiles (some full page), index; med. 8vo; grey cloth, spines lettered in black, boards decorated in blind; within pictorial slipcase, which is a trifle soiled; Farrar, Straus Giroux, New York, 1973. *Samuel Sewall, graduate and teaching fellow of Harvard College, began to keep a diary towards the end of 1673. His last entries were made 56 years later, three months before his death.
