DJ with 1/8" closed tears, particularly at spine top. Laid in news ad for a Mar 20 signing in Columbia, S.C., which references Dickey's residence in Columbia and his position of U.S.C. poet in residence. ALSO WITH a SIGNED 4 page promotion for a special Dec. 10, 1972 showing of the movie. This by the Richland County South Carolina Heart Association. The promotion states: "special thanks to: JAMES & MAXINE DICKEY for their time and their cheerful cooperation with the committee". Book's title page presentation reads: To Walter Fheed - with best wishes - James Dickey May 12, 1970". The movie promotional reads: "To Walter Fheed - from James Dickey". Both insrciptions are bold & crisp. .
Synopsis
The setting is the Georgia wilderness, where the states most remote white-water river awaits. In the thundering froth of that river, in its echoing stone canyons, four men on a canoe trip discover a freedom and exhilaration beyond compare. And then, in a moment of horror, the adventure turns into a struggle for survival as one man becomes a human hunter who is offered his own harrowing deliverance.From the Trade Paperback edition.
