About This Item
Americana wmdd Wigglesworth, Michael, 1631-1705. The Day of Doom or A Poetical Description of the Great and Last Judgment with Other Poems. Edited with an Introduction by Kenneth B Murdock. New York: The Spiral Press, 1929, xi, 94 pages. This is number 448 of 535 numbered copies. The book is in overall good condition but with the following detractions: the cover, cloth spine paper over boards, is bumped at the corners exposing boards; spine is little dusty, paper label is OK; the paper on the bottom edges of the cover are worn away in part; the front lining paper has a light yellowish stain, maybe where a bookplate was; on the front free endpaperare three or four small stains. Else good as noted. $21.50 Box A 126
Michael Wigglesworth (1631–1705) was a Puritan minister, physician, and poet whose poem The Day of Doom was a bestseller in early New England. Sort of appropriate that the work was published in 1929, the financial day of doom.
