About This Item
State University of New York at Buffalo. December,, 1964. First edition. Octavo. 27 pages. Wrappers. The first publication of a lecture delivered in Italian by Joyce at the Università Popolare Triestina in 1912.Presentation copy from the translator, inscribed on the title-page: ''For Mr James Laughlin, with cordial regards, Joseph Prescott''. Prescott has also made a couple of small emendations to the text. The recipient had in 1941 published Harry Levin's groundbreaking book on Joyce under his New Directions imprint, and did much else to encourage interest in the work of Joyce and his fellow expatriate modernists.Covers slightly faded at the edges and marked on the front. Very good.
