Doubleday & McClure Co, 1899. First Edition. Hardcover. 358 pages. Paul Lemperly, born in Cleveland in 1858, was an early and innovative collector of association books and good friend of White's. White visited Lemperly at his home when nearby. Inscribed by the author on half-title page: 'For Paul Lemperly, Cleveland Ohio from W.A.White, Emporia Kansas with the kindest regards. 'In memories wood-box place a stick for me.' From From Piggy Pennington's autograph album. Oct 31 - 99.' First edition (first printing). A very good copy in tan cloth covers with illustrated covers with orange lettering and brown ruling to covers and spine. Mild edge wear. No dust jacket. A very nice association copy.
