One of the most important philosophers of the twentieth-century, Lewis made outstanding contributions in numerous branches of the subject including (but not limited to) metaphysics, philosophy of language, philosophcal logic, and philosophy of mind. In this book, Lewis develops and defends a theory of counterfactuals relying upon the notion of possible worlds. This theory has been widely inluential and is still required reading for anyone interested in conditionals or conditional logic. A Near Fine book with a previous owner's name and institution (Cambridge) stamped on the front endpaper in a Very Good dust jacket with some light foxing and traces of rubbing.
