About This Item
W. Cater, J. Wilkie, and E. Easton, Salisbury, 1776. Leather. Fair - Used/None as Issued. Three volume leather set with missing backstrips and detached boards. Volume three is missing the title page, otherwise volumes are intact. These volumes chronicle the travels of Thomas Coryat (1577?-1617), who was at one time a known wit and 'buffoon' in James I's court, but then in 1608 he set out across Europe traveling mostly on foot. It is one of the earliest handbook for continental travel, when originally published in 1611 Please email for photos.
