Book discusses the construction of stone and frame dams, with numerous illustrations (many descriptions of specific dams in various localities are given). The damming of streams of course important to mill owners in the nineteenth century.1972 facsimile reprint of the rare 1881 edition. Ex-library: only marks being blacked out library stamp on top edge and label on spine. Corners are lightly bumped; wear to corners and extremities of spine (just to board at few places). Minor soiling to bottom right-hand of pages. Missing rear free endpaper. Still, a decent copy with sound hinges and unmarked pages.. Reprint. Hard Cover. Collectible-Good. 8vo - over 7¾" - 9¾" tall. Maroon Cloth-Covered Boards.
