Philadelphia: Philadelphia Orchestra, 1938. Paperback. Very Good. [16] p.: illustrated advertisements; 23 cm. Wrappers are included in page count. Wrapper title: The Ballet Russe: Youth 1938 1939. This was for the second of six concerts for youth by the Philadelphia Orchestra in the 1938-39 season. The Ballet Russe performed Le Lac des Sygnes (The Lake of Swans) with music by Tchaikovsky, choreography after Petipa, Alexandra Danilova as the Queen of the Swans, Michel Panaieff as Prince Siegfried, Roland Guerard as the Prince's Friend, Vladimir Kostenko as the Evil Genius, and Rosella Hightower as a Swan. The program also included the Philadelphia premier of St. Francis with music by Paul Hindemith and choreography by Leonide Massine; Spectre de la Rose, a choreographic poem by Theophile Gautier with scenes and dances by Michel Fokine set to Weber's Invitation to the Dance featuring Mia Slavenska and Igor Youskevitch; and Prince Igor set to music from Borodin's Prince Igor by Michel Fokine. In Very Good Condition: 1-cm. tear from lower edge of front wrapper; orange stain on inside front wrapper at upper edge; slightly creased.
