This is an attractive set ("Edition de Luxe") of the works of the great Scottish poet, a reprint of the "Gebbie Self-Interpreting Edition" first published in 1886. Six volumes in Very Good or better condition. Light green cloth bindings with paper labels on the spine. This set can be a major resource for the Burns scholar or enthusiast. The Scots dialect is printed opposite the English, along with the publication date and the date of composition; there is a Life of Burns, reviews of the works and listings of known spurious pieces; a table of known editions, a glossary of Scots words with examples from his work; and, of course, a general index. Clean texts, with some pages unopened. Volume 1: xvii, 402 pages; Volume 2: xii, 400 pages; Volume 3: xi, 384 pages; Volume 4: xii, 400 pages ; Volume 5: xx, 416 pages; and Volume 6: x, 422 pages. Lightly bumped, with mild general soiling. Volume One has a cute little label from Gimbels on the rear paste-down. Volume Six has a torn rear gutter. Else in Very Good (Plus) condition.. Reprint Edition. Hard Cover. Very Good (Plus)/No Jacket. 8vo - over 7¾" - 9¾" tall.
