New York: Harcourt, Brace and Company, 1950. Hardcover. Stated First Edition, First Printing. 6.25 x 9.5in. xxix. 676pp. Publisher's cloth boards. Signed by the author without inscription on the second blank endpaper. Also the former copy of Helga Sandburg, the beloved daughter of the author, his occasional editor, and the subject of his poem "Helga," with her bookplate at the front paste-down. A lovely association copy. VERY GOOD in Very Good dust jacket protected in a removable archival cover. The book itself shows marginals shelf rubbing of the extremities, one corner lightly tapped, a hint of toning at the gutter of the endpapers; in all other respects remains Fine/As New. The dust jacket shows some creasing and marginal instances of loss along the extremities, back panel with a spot of discoloration, price-clipped, otherwise remains bright and distinct. As pictured.
