A clean copy, free of annotation, and without underlining, the only damage is age-related, darkening of the page edges, and a small tear at the top right of the rear panel of the illustrated dust jacket. This book. The 4 sections, and in the 1st, the author considers the period before New Zealand became part of the British Empire. In the 2nd part the author shows that settlement was generally unorganised until the Maori Wars. The front, the North Island, the South Island at the back (no maps of the West Island). Illustrated with reproductions of documents, of black-and-white photographs, and engravings et cetera and with an index and bibliography. Size: 8vo - over 7¾" - 9¾" tall. XII, 232 pages.
